2020 Design Plans
Here is what I plan to design in 2020.
January: Lat Cab Hat.
This hat has a pretty unique and interesting construction. It begins with ribbing worked in the round on smaller that average needles. The body of the hat begins with a provisional CO and is joined to the ribbing on every right side row. The body of the hat is worked flat and once it done, is joined with a 3-needle BO. The crown is worked in the round . This pattern was published on January 3, 2020, so I can check it off the to-do list.
February: A yet to be named center out shawl
I am working this shawl with 3 colors of yarn that I purchased on Colorado Springs when I was on Epic Vacation 2 last summer. This shawl is rectangular and is a combination of stockinette, alternating stockinette and reverse stockinette, and eyelet. It also has a variation of a fade. The shawl begins with Judy's Magic Cast On. That may be a new skill for your knitting bag of tricks. I will have a video tutorial for the cast on, and the eyelet section of the shawl will be charted and written out. Here is an unfinished and unblocked sneak peak at the shawl.
March: Shorty Socks
I have not written any sock patterns, but that will change this year. My first pair will be socks for sneakers, or tennis shoes not used for tennis, as we call them here in Indiana.
April: Toe Up Socks with some kind of pattern, and Baby Blanket
May: Sweater out of special yarn purchased in Maine in 2018. Top down, cables, maybe cropped, maybe not. Publish by August.
June: Color-work Sweater out of special yarn purchased in Michigan in 2019. Top down once again. Publish by August.
July: Sweater 3 for the year - possibly brioche. Publish by September
August: Shawl #2 - possibly crescent shaped.
September: 2 Hats
October: More socks
November & December: Finish up anything that is not complete, Christmas knitting and plan for 2021.
I would also like to continue to design patterns for Cascade Yarns and Knit Picks. It is a pleasure and an honor to work with these companies, and I would love to continue these relationships.
This is the first time that I have put my yearly plan on my blog for all to see. I hope that it will keep me accountable to the plan. It sounds like a lot of work, but it is good and rewarding work. Time is short - I had better get started!
